James and the Giant Peach

As a child, I discovered a love of pop-up books. Throughout my adulthood I continued this affection for these books and the magic that they offer.  For James in the Giant Peach I imagined an opportunity to create a life size pop-up book where an ensemble of actors manipulated set pieces and puppets.  Actors and Puppeteers worked together to create the numerous iconic scenes found in the story from rapid ocean waves to the seagulls lifting the Peach.  In addition, the adaptation by David Wood has several poems spoken by the characters;  I worked with a composer to develop musical accompaniment for the poetry and choreographed each new song.
